ENGLISH FOR US IN SPAIN
This program is designed to provide speech therapy and communication students with a direct academic and professional immersion experience in Spain. It includes different hands-on activities with special education, hearing impaired, or autism spectrum students, lectures with professionals, workshops, round tables, and visits to various educational centers and institutions.
As part of the program students will also participate in the English For Us Weekend Camp where they will have the chance to meet and work directly with the special students that participate in our online English learning program.

Basic information
Travel Information
We will support you all the way, from preparing your trip ahead of time to answering all your questions about the travel and the overseas experience.
You don´t have to worry about anything, but getting your documents ready, meeting the deadlines, and preparing your luggage.
Your Destination
The program takes place in Madrid, one of Europe's largest, cosmopolitan, and dynamic cities.
It is home to the Spanish central government, administration, and many national and international advocacy institutions and organizations. Madrid also offers a strong network of support social services for people with special needs, a solid education system, and a growing culture of professional inclusion.
Today, Madrid is a friendly multicultural city with excellent public transport, beautiful parks, stores, restaurants, and music from all over the world. It has a long historical, artistic, and cultural tradition where past and present coexist in harmony. The city hosts some of the most prestigious museums in Europe, such as the Prado, the Thyssen, and the Reina Sofia.

Accommodation

You will stay in a modern student residence in an excellent location in town. Students will stay in double rooms, although single rooms are available at an extra cost.

The rooms (double/single) are fully equipped with a bathroom and a small kitchen, wardrobes, and air conditioning. You don´t need to bring your linen or towels.

You will also have two meals covered, usually breakfast and lunch or dinner, depending on the daily schedule. If you have any dietary condition that we need to be aware of, you should indicate that in your applications.

This program is designed to provide speech therapy and communication students with a direct academic and professional immersion experience in Spain. It includes different hands-on activities with special education, hearing impaired, or autism spectrum students, lectures with professionals, workshops, round tables, and visits to various educational centers and institutions.
You will learn about different approaches and how to work with special needs students focusing on learning and practicing the English language. You will have the opportunity to run practice sessions, teach students, implement methodologies, or design materials to practice English and promote a direct and effective intercultural exchange. You will also learn about the additional services and protocols professionals must follow in other countries.
Activities
This two-week program includes many activities throughout the week and on weekends. During the week, you will participate in and lead various hands-on activities providing speech & language English practice in different schools, institutions, and organizations that work with students with Special needs and in English instruction.
Still, you will have time to enjoy the beauty of Madrid, participate in cultural visits and excursions, and have some free time to explore.
Free time
While you will have a complete plan for this trip, we´ll make sure that you also have time to explore and enjoy the fantastic life of an international city like Madrid.
With Christmas around the corner, you have the opportunity to visit the famous Christmas Market at the Plaza Mayor; enjoy the city lights and the many pre-Christmas activities the city has to offer. And don´t forget your Christmas shopping!
Cultural Program
As part of your experience in Madrid, you will also enjoy plenty of activities, including museum visits, guided tours of the city, and events, and enjoy Spanish and international food!
The program includes two one-day excursions designed to help students familiarize themselves with Spain's rich history, art, architecture, and culture.
During your stay, you will visit Toledo and Segovia, two of the oldest and most popular cities.

Traveling abroad is a big decision and may be costly, but it will be a turning point in your life.
When budgeting for your trip, remember that the only things not included are your personal expenses. Everything else is included in the program cost.
